Vimeo is an online resource where film enthusiasts can post their work, collaborate with others, comment on each other's films and share information and ideas.

Groups
Vimeo allows you to join or great different interest groups. Within these groups, you can share and discuss videos with other people who share a common interest. A few examples are animation, motion graphic artists and music videographers.

Channels
Vimeo categorizes films within different channels. This allows you to explore different genres of film or seek out certain informational films. For example, there is a channel with films on how to use adobe.

Projects
Groups or individuals will often post projects ideas and encourage people to
Hey guys, I've got a new project idea!

This project aims to study the forgotten moments and times in life that we often pass by without acknowledging.

The rules? Well, it's pretty simple:
-Video must be exactly one minute long
-No camera movement (no panning, tilting, etc)
-No editing whatsoever
-Use original sound
-Tag with '1 minute'
-Add to the '1 minute' group

Classroom Application
I believe that the strongest classroom application is having students participate in a project posted on Vimeo. Groups of students could each choose one posted projects such as the one minute project described above. After filming, they would post their film and encourage others to comment on it. In addition, they would view other films created through the same project idea, and be required to post comments on these films. Another application would be that the entire class could post a project idea, and encourage other members of Vimeo to participate. If members of the class posted comments and videos, the buzz would likely draw in other participants and create a healthy dialogue about the videos.
